I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

If water is still leaking, turn off the water at the nearest valve or at the mains tap outside. If you cannot find the water main isolation valve or a tap to the appliance, then turn on the cold faucets inside and out to depressurise the pipework and minimise the leak.

Once that’s sorted, give our team a ring, whatever the day or time is. We will be with you shortly to resolve the problem.

While you are waiting for the plumber to arrive, clear away any important things from the area, and clean up any water or put a container to catch the drips. If you turned the mains water off, also switch off the hot water heating as well.
